Sougwen Chung is a Chinese-born, Canadian-raised artist and (re)searcher based in New York. Her work explores the interaction between humans and computers through mark-made-by-hand and mark-made-by-machine. Her speculative critical practice spans installation, sculpture, still image, drawing, and performance. Chung is a former research fellow at MIT’s Media Lab and an inaugural member of NEW INC. She received a BFA and a Masters Diploma in Interactive Art. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Geneva), National Art Centre (Tokyo), and MIT Media Lab (Cambridge). She has spoken internationally, including at Tribeca Film Festival Interactive (New York), OFFF (Barcelona), and FITC (Tokyo).
